Facebook is trying to woo publications to Instant Articles. Under one scheme that’s being considered, publications will keep all ad revenue from articles posted on Facebook if the sites themselves sell the ads. For more read (source: the Verge)
My take :
- Increase traffic/ viewer to both FB and publisher
- Keep user / content consumers engage in FB
- FB indirectly gain control of the news published
- FB will understand news content trend , consumption and engagement pattern by geography / demography /etc
- Ad revenue share opportunity for FB / new monetization channel ?
- This would trend the news publisher would move from website presence to App based model
- Publisher can now concentrate on Mobile platform for news feed
- FB intent to bring reader up to the speed thus
- FB might build stronger analytics around news consumption – may give access to premium users in future
So it is the Game of Traffic …will watch how it takes the turn
